SUSTAINABILITY
Toward a sustainable society
The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) were adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. They are a set of internationally-adopted goals consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets designed to solve social issues by 2030 and achieve "sustainable development.
At Yoshino Gypsum Co., Ltd, we are working to achieve these SDGs and realize a sustainable society through the activities of our entire corporate group.
Creating products in harmony with the global environment
We have established manufacturing technologies that reuse by-product gypsum, which was once considered waste, as well as old newspapers. Through these efforts, we continue to pursue production that is in harmony with the global environment.
"Yoshino Gypsum Forest" Initiative
(Combating Global Warming and Promoting Forest Conservation)We support the creation and maintenance of the Yoshino Gypsum Forest in Nanyo City, Yamagata Prefecture—our company’s birthplace—as part of our commitment to preventing global warming and nurturing forest environments.
Promoting the use of recycled gypsum
In 2023, we accepted and recycled approximately 380,000 tons of waste gypsum board across all our factories. We are committed to further increasing recovery efforts to help build a sustainable, circular society.
Expanding use of renewable energy
We are actively transitioning from fossil fuels, a major contributor to global warming, by introducing renewable energy sources into our operations.
In October 2023, our Souka Plant and Chiba No.1 Plant began carbon-neutral production.
Starting in May 2024, all Yoshino Gypsum Group factories have been progressively adopting green electricity generated from renewable energy.
